I was sneezing throughout my younger years and didn’t know what hit me. My school nurse told me that I had a cold. I believed in the nurse and I just kept it to myself. I could still remember how stuffy my nose was. If it wasn’t stuffy, it was draining.
Later on, I started to think that the nurse didn’t know what she was talking about. “What is going on here? How could a cold actually last this long?” I decided to get another opinion from another school nurse. She told me that I was actually allergic to something and that I didn’t have a cold.
My parents were clueless when it came to over-the-counter medicine. My mom bought some, but it wasn’t the non-drowsy kind for sure. I could still recall how drowsy I was during school time. I could recall that my eight grade teacher put me aside and asked me if I was consuming illegal drugs and wanted to talk to my parents.
That’s how my past was and I still continue to suffer from allergies and anything sinus related, including sinus infections. There are two types of infections that you can have. This problem is also referred to as sinusitis. These are called acute sinus infections and chronic sinus infections.
How Long Will I Have These Sinus Problems?
There’s man similarities between the 2 types of symptoms. The actual difference can be seen in the period of time for which symptoms will last. You can have acute sinus infections for 4-8 weeks. You can have chronic symptoms off and on throughout the year.
