In Defensive Stop, the goalkeeper and the defensive player perform tackling skills, which is its actual purpose in soccer drills. In addition to being a soccer defensive drill, it helps the offensive players hone their dribbling skills.
Groups should be created having three players in each. The offensive and defensive players should be roughly 30-35 yards apart. Defensive Stop covers an entire half of the field. The ball is directed towards the center circle as soon as the whistle blows, for the offensive player to collect it.
The offensive player takes the ball to the 18-yard line dribbling it forward. Taking advantage of the control of the ball the offensive player puts his efforts to make a goal, meanwhile the defenders manages to take the possession of the ball with slide-tackling. When the defensive player gains possession of the ball, same play is repeated by the remaining two players in each group.

Control over the body: An essential skill in soccer is the art of controlling his body. Control over the body is important to a player when he is trying to make way through the opposition having the ball with him.

In Youth soccer drills, shielding, the practice of keeping the ball at a reasonable distance from the defender with maintaining its control is not new to people involved in the game.
Once again, let’s start with the fundamentals. In kids soccer drills, have the kids practice the art of keeping their heads up and identify a teammate to pass the ball, or drive the ball away from the opponent. Train them to keep the ball close to them so as to maintain control. Their body should be between the ball and the opponent.
Your players may be knocked off the ball or their opponents may push them. So prepare them to remain cool and play on since it is very common in the game. Here are some drills pertaining to the skill of shielding.
Roll Over: This drill involves just one player and one ball only. The player rolls the ball by moving his or her foot over the top of the ball in the direction he or she wants the ball to go. The ball moves from left to right, right to left, back to front, and front to back, when the player gently touches it with the foot.
Of all the drills, this is the one in which a player has the freedom to use his or her heel or toe to move the ball.
Donkey Tail: In youth soccer practice, this drill involves all players to take part with one ball each, some cones and some old socks. Place the cones all over the field in such a way that all players can be accommodated easily but without a lot of extra room for them. All players should take a sock each and put it in the back of their soccer shorts.
This should be hanging down like a tail and only a few inches of the sock should be sticking out.
Ask all the players to be inside the marked area and blow the whistle to mark the beginning of the drill. Then each player should attempt to dribble the ball and at the same time pull the other player’s tail. As and when they catch each other’s tail, they should drop it on the ground.
The player who loses control over the ball and it travels out of the marked area should get out of the field and wait till the next game. This should be the case with those also whose tails get pulled. As the players reduce in number, keep decreasing the size marked by cones. When only 2 players remain, stop the play.
This is because 2 players can continue playing for a long time in this situation.

In Coaching soccer drills, the skill of heading is such an important skill that it sets soccer apart from other sports. Heading has the different characteristics of being lively, brilliant, subtle and controlled all at the same time.
